Are TV News Anchors Becoming Obsolete?

Tribune station KIAH Houston will debut an anchor-less newscast in January.  Called "NewsFix", it's described as a cast that will rely more on pre-produced stories and will have a faster pace than traditional TV news.

But what will distinguish the newscast is the absence of anchors, a fixture in TV newscasts for decades.  “There will always be a voice and lots of personality,” Lee Abrams says in an interview withTVNewsCheck. “There just won’t be two people behind the desk.”

Lee Abrams resigned from Tribune shortly after coming up with this idea;  he had earlier been suspended for sending out an email that contained offensive content.
